Corruption in Croatia

Local sheriffs are more dangerous than it seems, emphasized the Director of USKOK Dinko Cvitan. He also pointing out the importance of solving corruption issues at a local level.
As part of the public debate ˝Justice and Fight against Corrupton: how to return confidence of citizens to institutions˝ which was held because of the first Anti-corruption report of European Union and organized by the Representative of European Commission in Croatia, Cvitan has emphasized that citizens in applications to DORH mostly indicates problem in the area of justice, work of local and regional government and in link with the two above points, public procurement.
Davorka Budimir, the president of TI, asked for legislation of Act on the protection of ''whistleblowers'' and the Lobbying Act and the introduction of Register of public officials.
