Public officials' arrests show action in Croatia's corruption probe
Officials at Transparency International Croatia said anti-corruption efforts are an ongoing process, which has not ended with Croatia's accession to the EU.
"Politicians who are elected are sending a bad message with their behaviour. Apart from acts of corruption, they cause 'non-material damage,' or a loss of trust in political institutions. This is a brand new experience for the judicial system, and practice and time will show if they were effective," Davorka Budimir, president of TI Croatia, told SETimes.
