Responsible and determined management of public procurement

03.06.2014.

Croatian President Ivo Josipovic at the conference "transparent, ethical and safe business," emphasized the importance of responsibility, but also a determined management of public procurement.

Zagreb, 2 June 2014 - Conference on "transparent, ethical and safe business" sponsored by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, brought together hundreds of leading Croatian businessmen, lawyers and representatives of state institutions.

"The fight against corruption is much more than the detection of corruption offenses and punishment. First of all, the most important is to change the mentality and eliminate corrupt consciousness - accepting the corruption as a way of life, a way of running a business and a way of politics, "said President Ivo Josipovic and stressed that today Croatian society highly sensitized to corruption and that there is no President , prime minister or member of parliament who can and wants to change.

"Where there is no transparency, safety and ethics in politics, it is difficult that they can be in other areas of society," Josipovic said, and called for responsible, but also decisively management of public procurement: "We are still looking for a formula that public procurement become strong mechanism against corruption, on the other hand that does not stifle trade, economy and business. "

"A new culture of transparency advocated by Transparency International Croatia implies the implementation of the highest business value to system operation and management of private and public goods. It is honesty value that is fundamental about which is not discussed. Security is the new value as a result of transparency, "said Davorka Budimir, president of Transparency International Croatia.

"The business world today is faced with many challenges and risks that may affect the positive and negative effects on daily operations. Customers want to get tested product that is in compliance with all local and international laws and standards, while just suppliers of products and services have a duty to achieve this harmony, while maintaining the level of quality. SGS's expertise through many years of impartial verification of the quality and quantity of products and services, their certification, implementation of anti-corruption programs and other means of surveillance and testing, provides safe and transparent operations, "said Marinko Ukropina, Managing Director of companies SGS Belgrade, SGS Adriatica , SGS SGS Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
