The shameful statement by Carl Dolan, Transparency International's activist in Brussels is both dangerous and harmful to Croatia.

03.02.2017.

The shameful statement by Carl Dolan, Transparency International's activist in Brussels is both dangerous and harmful to Croatia.

Croatia, like many other countries, has problems in its fight against corruption but such an unfounded statement causes direct damage to Croatia. Who will invest in Croatia after such an inaccurate and manipulative statement by a Brussels activist?

According to this year’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), at least 16 countries worldwide dropped by two points just like Croatia. In the European Union, countries that did worse than Croatia include Hungary (48), Romania (48), Italy (47), Greece (44) and Bulgaria (41).

On the basis of what parameters is then Croatia set apart as the “New Face” of corruption, unless there is a shameful manipulation of the results and research methodology which should be brought into question for several reasons?

TI Croatia has therefore sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, and the First Vice-President, Mr. Frans Timmermans informing them of how detrimental such a baseless statement is. Transparency International is a German association which has no right whatsoever to denounce Croatia and it would be more useful if it started dealing with its own internal operational problems and relationships with its chapters and the transparency of its own work. Only then can it denounce others and talk about the fight against corruption in the world.
