SECURE INDEPENDENT BODIES TO DO THEIR JOB OR ABOLISH THEM- CORRUPTION PREVENTION IS BASED ON THE TRANSPARENCY OF THE ALL INFORMATIONS THAT DOES NOT COMPROMISE NATIONAL SECURITY

Transparency International Croatia considers that the decision of the Agency for protection of personal data is to exclude certain informations from public officials conducting the Commission for conflict of interest contrary to the struggle for transparent society.

"Individuals who have been elected in the electoral process or the are on the appointed positions as a result of electoral victory, who care about the public good and exercise their income from the state budget must be prepared that are no longer anonymous individuals more responsible professionals aware of their social role. They are expected to have no secrets to the public, especially for information relating to revenues realized.

The independent bodies set up to protect the public interest, such as the Commission for the conflict of interest, lose meaning why they are formed if they are not prevented independent work in terms of the information that they consider to be interested public has a right to know.

In a situation when trying to achieved savings in the budget consider that such a waste of money for the bodies that can not work an unnecessary expense for the state administration, but also for all Croatian citizens. Professionalism and integrity of the institution of the Commission is based on their independent and impartial work.

This is an opportunity to re-examine numerous legal regulations and responsibilities of individual bodies, dealing with problems of corruption, because efficiency can be a consequence of this situation. "Said Davorka Budimir, President of TIC.
